Recent Executive Orders
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has rescinded M-25-13, the original OMB memo from Jan 27, 2025 that called for a blanket temporary pause of federal agency grants, loans, and other financial assistance programs. Any previously announced agency communication pauses are still in place.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they are available.
Guidance related to federally funded institutional grants
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a memo on January 27, 2025, outlining a temporary pause of federal agency grants, loans, and other financial assistance programs, effective 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 28, 2025.
Please know that these types of directives are not atypical when administrative transitions happen. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been closely monitoring these developments.
We are actively working to gather more information and assess the implications to our federally funded institutional grants. As principal investigators (PI), it is now your responsibility to review your federal grant agreements for compliance with this directive. If you are a PI of a federally funded grant, you should conduct an immediate assessment of your grant deliverables within the context of the Presidential Executive Order. Reach out to Dr. Kumer Das at kumer.das@louisiana.edu or Dr. Ramesh Kolluru at ramesh.kolluru@louisiana.edu if you have any questions or ambiguity related to your grant deliverables vis-à-vis these evolving guidelines. Principal investigators should closely monitor grant activities to ensure that all incurred expenditures are reimbursable.
We are sending agency notifications as they are received to the impacted PIs and subrecipients. If you receive information directly from an agency, please forward the information to spfac@louisiana.edu and research@louisiana.edu. If you receive any media inquiries, direct them to Eric Maron at the Office of Communications and Marketing at eric.maron@louisiana.edu.
Until further information is provided, we encourage you to continue to adhere to (i) sponsored proposal deadlines and instructions and (ii) award terms and conditions.
