Radiation Safety Committee
COVID19 update - The RSC continues to operate remotely. If you have changes to your approved procedures that need committee attention, please submit them to rsc@louisiana.edu
If you want to use radiation or radiation-producing machines in your research, you must submit an application for review and approval to the Radiation Safety Officer. The Radiation Safety Committee will review your application before you can begin your research.
The Radiation Safety Committee has the responsibility to oversee the University programs utilizing radioactive materials or radiation sources. They assure that all activities are carried out in accord with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Environmental Regulatory Code Title 33, Part XV: Radiation Protection. In addition to reviewing applications, the committee is responsible for inspecting laboratories where radiation is used and the Radiation Safety Officer must approve purchases of radioactive materials.
