A new center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is providing specialized assistance in statistical analysis for graduate students and faculty. The Statistical Consulting Center ensures that students and faculty have the necessary tools to conduct rigorous and insightful research.

By fostering a collaborative environment and offering guidance on analytical methodologies and more, the Statistical Consulting Center helps empower graduate students and faculty to refine their research and enhance their impact in their respective fields.

Dr. Phillip Whitman, the Center’s director, said the Center serves as a one-stop shop for graduate students and faculty seeking assistance with statistical analysis. “Whether they need help with experimental design, statistical modeling, or interpreting results, the center is ready to provide guidance and support. By offering personalized consultation, the center ensures that students receive the specific help they need, tailored to their research goals,” he said, noting that both faculty and graduate students can receive help at the center with a priority given to graduate students.

One of the key advantages of engaging with the Statistical Consulting Center is the opportunity for graduate students to enhance their analytical skills. By learning from experts in the field, students can develop a deeper understanding of research methodologies and gain confidence in their analytical abilities.

In addition to offering individual consultations, the Statistical Consulting Center also will help graduate students formulate problems in terms of statistical questions, help solve those problems and work with students to understand the solutions, and help students understand what can and cannot be achieved using modern statistical methods. By offering comprehensive support, the center ensures that graduate students have the necessary resources to tackle complex research questions and produce robust findings.

The Statistical Consulting Center invites all graduate students and faculty to take advantage of its services and enhance their research capabilities. An initial consultation can me made online via the Center’s Moodle page.
