Public Understanding of Science and Technology

The goal of this program is to enhance people's lives by providing a better understanding of the increasingly scientific and technological environment in which we live. The program also aims to convey some of the challenges and rewards of the scientific and technological enterprise and of the lives of the men and women who undertake it. The Program supports the use of: books, film, radio, television, theater, and other efforts to reach a wide non‐specialist audience. The program also funds projects in the history of science and technology and media outreach to help the scientific community understand the public's attitudes toward and knowledge of science.
