Room Temperature Generation of Dendritic and other Nanostructures
Researchers at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in the Center for Structural and Functional Materials have developed a novel method of nanostructure preparation that overcomes limitations associated with other methods. Using the current Innovation, nanostructures are prepared at room temperature by applying a magnetic field to a reverse micelle system wherein a salt of a magnetic metal is being precipitated within the core of the reverse micelle. Said magnetic field can be manipulated to generate custom-directional nanostructures, including dendritic nanostructures. This technology offers an efficient, cost-effective method of nanostructure preparation that holds great potential for reducing costs of nanostructure preparation across industries.
