Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Awards

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette celebrates the achievements of faculty, researchers, mentors, and students who contribute to the University's research, scholarship, creative activity, and innovation enterprise.

Each year, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation recognizes members of the University community for outstanding accomplishments in research and scholarship, creative work, student mentorship, externally funded research, and innovation and commercialization.

The Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Awards reflect the breadth of scholarly and creative work taking place across UL Lafayette and recognize contributions that advance the University's research mission and strengthen its national and international reputation.

Research Recognition Awards

Recognition is provided through several award categories:

  • Research Excellence Award — recognizes senior faculty members for exceptional research, scholarship, and/or creative activities within their disciplines
  • Rising Star Award — recognizes junior faculty members showing great promise in research, scholarship, and/or creative activities.
  • Outstanding Doctoral Student Mentor Award — recognizes exceptional contributions to the research and creative development of doctoral students.
  • Outstanding Undergraduate Research Mentor Award — recognizes extraordinary commitment to the development and advancement of undergraduate researchers.
  • Outstanding Achievement in Externally Funded Research — recognizes significant achievement in securing externally sponsored research funding.
  • Excellence in Licensing and Commercialization — recognizes individuals or teams whose work contributes to the advancement of the University's innovation ecosystem through successful licensing and commercialization.

Current Award Cycle

Nominations and selections for the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Awards are conducted in accordance with the eligibility requirements, nomination procedures, selection processes, and deadlines established for each award.

Faculty members, department heads, school directors, deans, and others involved in the nomination process should review the current guidelines before submitting nomination materials.
