Export Controls
Export control laws are designed to protect national security, further foreign policy, and maintain economic competitiveness. They govern how information, technologies, and commodities can be sent out of the United States to anyone, including U.S. citizens, or to foreign nationals in the U.S. Items like computer code, sensors, raw data on new technologies could be export controlled.
The University has implemented procedures, training and a policy to assist faculty and staff with compliance to export controls regulations.
Basic export controls training is encouraged for all faculty and staff, but is required for those people involved in projects where export controlled technology, software or equipment will be used, accessed or communicated about. Training is available via the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI).
